The literary world is abuzz with news of Sophie Kinsella’s new book, I’ve Got Your Number, which will be released in the states, fittingly/cheesily, on February 14, 2012. This one-off is about a woman, Poppy Wyatt, who is happily engaged to the “ideal man” until she loses her engagement ring (oh no!). She also somehow loses her cell phone and ends up picking up another “abandoned” phone instead (which kind of makes sense, but still seems illegal) and reading all of the messages on it. The abandoned phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, resents the intrusion into his life, and I’m guessing hilarity ensues. And I’ll go out on a limb here and guess that she ends up with Mr. Roxton.
I haven’t read that much “chick lit” (not that I have anything against the genre since I’m no snob – I believe in democracy) but I’ve enjoyed the Kinsella novels I have read, like the first few Shopaholic books and Undomestic Goddess. I’m hoping this new one will be as fun as her others, so I’ll probably check this book out. But maybe not right when it’s released.
